Create HAR files in supported browsers for advanced troubleshooting

Beskrivelse

One diagnostic test to determine if there are slow loading or problem components on a page load is to use a browser's built in Developer Tools. It's important to collect this page load information from a user during a time when they are experiencing slowness.

Note: We recommend that users capture these logs in Google Chrome or Firefox.

Please read the HAR Security Guideline before creating them in the below supported browsers

HAR (http archive) files may contain sensitive data, including cookies, authentication tokens, and personal information. This data can lead to security risks such as impersonation and unauthorized access.

When creating a HAR File customers must ensure that the following safeguards are completed, before the file is sent to Salesforce Support and Third Party Vendors.

  1. Sanitize: Sanitize files before sharing using a HAR sanitize ( Example -Cloudflare HAR sanitizer) or manually with a text editor, to redact sensitive information.
  2. Log Out of Sessions: If investigating non-authentication issues, log out of any active sessions before recording to enhance security and prevent capturing active session tokens.
  3. HAR Hygiene: Treat HAR files as Restricted. Restrict access to only appropriate personnel and ensure secure storage and transmission. HAR Files must never be uploaded un-sanitized outside of Salesforce (e.g. chatGPT)

General Tips:

  • For intermittent issues you will need to attempt to capture a request when the slowness or problem is occurring. If the issue does not occur on the first capture, please clear out or reset the information in the developer console and try again.
  • Most browsers and operating systems will default to saving the file as a “.har” file, however if this does not occur you can manually append “.har” to the file name.
  • HAR files tend to be fairly large in terms of file size. If you cannot attach this file via email or the support case due to file size, please notify your technical support engineer to explore other options.
  • If the HAR file size is less Than 1MB after saving, it’s likely that it did not capture the full request and may not be useful to support to diagnose. If this is the case, please attempt to save a new capture.
  • Please provide Salesforce Support with the exact steps or click path taken by the end user to replicate the problem.
