Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) Sync Error: Missing "Don't Sync with Salesforce" Category in Outlook

To resolve this error, you must manually create the missing Outlook category so that Salesforce for Outlook can correctly identify which items to exclude from sync. Follow the steps below.

Steps to Create the Missing "Don't Sync with Salesforce" Category in Outlook

1. Close Salesforce for Outlook from the system tray by right-clicking on the SFO icon and selecting Exit.
2. In Outlook, click the Home tab and then click the Categorize button.
3. Select All Categories... from the dropdown menu.
   1. Note: For calendar items, the Tags group appears on the Appointment or Meeting tab. For an open contact or task, the Tags group appears on the Contact or Task tab.
4. Click New... on the Color Categories dialog box.
5. Type exactly: Don't Sync with Salesforce (or Sync with Salesforce if preferred).
6. Click the arrow next to Color and select the color you want for this category.
7. Click OK on the Add New Category dialog box, then click OK on the Color Categories dialog box.
8. Close and reopen Outlook, then relaunch Salesforce for Outlook and attempt the sync again.
