Organizations may need to increase attachment size limits when working with large files such as detailed presentations, high-resolution images, technical documentation, or comprehensive reports. The default 25MB limit in Classic may not be sufficient for these business needs.
This article explains how to request an increase to the maximum attachment file size used with the Notes and Attachments related list. This controls how large a file can be when uploaded via the standard related list in Salesforce Classic. Note that this is different from the Increase Upload Size feature, which pertains to Knowledge and Documents only. To learn more, please review Increase file Upload Size limit for Knowledge and Documents.

To increase the maximum attachment file size beyond the default, you'll need assistance from Salesforce Support.
If you've reviewed all relevant documentation and still need assistance with increasing this limit, please have a System Administrator submit a limit increase request by following the steps below:
Ask your administrator to open a Case with Salesforce Support.
Include the Organization ID of your production or sandbox. To find your Organization ID, please review Learn how to find your Org ID.
Confirm that you are the System Administrator authorized to request this limit increase.
Provide a business justification as to why an increase is needed.
Specify the limit you would like to increase to.
Salesforce Support will review your request and will action it accordingly.
The attachment size limit varies between Classic and Lightning Experience, and certain technical constraints apply based on how files are uploaded.
The default limit for Salesforce Classic is 25MB. Support can increase the limit up to 65MB.
Attachments larger than 36MB can be attached only via the User Interface — API limits are not affected by this change and cannot be increased.
This limit increase does not apply to OnDemand Email-to-Case, as that 25MB limit is hard-coded.
The Salesforce Lightning attachment limit is set at 2GB (a hard-coded limit) and cannot be changed.
This limit controls the maximum size of an attachment when uploaded using the standard related list, 'Notes & Attachments.'
