Cannot Change Decimal Places on Salesforce Standard Fields (Number, Currency, Percentage)

Veröffentlichungsdatum: May 4, 2026
Beschreibung

Salesforce does not allow administrators or Support to change the number of decimal places on standard fields — such as Number, Currency, or Percentage field types. This setting is hard-coded and cannot be modified. For example, if a standard Opportunity field displays 2 decimal places but your business requires 4, this cannot be changed directly on the standard field.
The only exception is the Price field on Quote Line Items, which can be extended to accommodate selling products for less than $0.01. See Additional Resources for details.

Lösung

As a workaround, consider creating a custom field of type Number, Currency, or Percentage and configure the desired number of decimal places. This custom field can then replace the standard field in page layouts, reports, and Salesforce Flows.

To create a custom field: Go to Setup > Object Manager > [Object Name] > Fields & Relationships > New and select the appropriate field type (Number, Currency, or Percentage), then set your desired decimal places.

To request this as a product enhancement, visit the Salesforce Trailblazer Community Idea Exchange (see Additional Resources -Opportunity Product: Discount percentage field needs more than 2 decimal places).

If you would like to extend the decimal places on "Price" field in quote line item, please refer to this article
