Error 'We can't deliver your logs because of an error' on Email Log Request

Salesforce Email Log Requests allow administrators to retrieve logs of all emails sent through their Salesforce org within a specified date range. In some cases, the Email Log Request fails with the following error: "We can't deliver your logs because of an error. Try searching again."

This error occurs when the selected date range is too large, causing the log retrieval process to time out before Salesforce can return the data.

Why This Error Occurs

When you submit an Email Log Request in Salesforce, the system retrieves all email log data for the specified date range. If the date range is too wide and contains a large volume of email data, the retrieval process takes too long and returns an error instead of delivering the log file.
This is a timeout issue — the system cannot process and return the full dataset within the allowed time limit.

How to Resolve the Error

To successfully retrieve your email logs, reduce the time duration of your Email Log Request. Splitting a large request into smaller date range segments allows each request to complete within the time limit.


Example:
If you request email logs for a 7-day period and receive the error, try splitting the request into two or three shorter ranges (for example, 2–3 days each). After successfully retrieving the first segment, submit a new request for the next segment until you have retrieved logs for the full date range you need.
