Salesforce for Outlook error 'Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID'

Publiseringsdato: Jun 16, 2026
Beskrivelse

When Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) fails to load, the following error appears in the SFO Trace log:
"Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80080005 Server execution failed (CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE)."
This error indicates that the Microsoft Outlook COM component registration that SFO depends on is broken or missing. This typically occurs after a Microsoft Office repair, reinstallation, or version upgrade.

Løsning

This error is resolved by re-registering or repairing the Microsoft Office COM components that Salesforce for Outlook depends on.

Step 1: Repair Microsoft Office

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Select Microsoft Office and click Change.
  3. Choose Repair and follow the prompts.
  4. Restart the computer after the repair completes.
  5. Launch Salesforce for Outlook and verify the error is resolved.

Step 2: Verify the Outlook COM Registration Registry Key

If the repair does not resolve the issue, the COM class factory registry key may be pointing to the wrong path. The registry key path varies by Office version and bitness:

Office VersionRegistry Path
Office 2016 32-bit on 64-bit WindowsHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Office 2016 64-bitHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Office 2013 32-bit on 64-bit WindowsHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Office 2013 64-bitHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Navigate to the applicable registry key and verify that the LocalServer32 or InprocServer32 value points to the correct Microsoft Office installation path (for example, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE). Correct the path if it is pointing to a non-existent directory.

Step 3: Reinstall Salesforce for Outlook

If the above steps do not resolve the error, uninstall SFO and reinstall from the Salesforce org's installer.
