Learn how to interpret the historical event logs to audit the activities for Users/Organizational data. This includes information on the data contained in the logs and the parameters used to describe the activities conducted within the Organization.

Log entries appear as follows:

 

Timestamps

Time stamps appear one of two ways (All times are in 24-hour GMT per SFDC servers.):


Option 1:   YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.MLS
YYYY(Year) MM(Month) DD(Date) HH(Hour) MM(Minutes) SS(Seconds) MLS(Milliseconds)

Option 2:   MM/DD/YY:HH:MM:SS
MM(Month) DD(Date) YY(Year) HH(Hour) MM(Minutes) SS(Seconds)
 

Log Record Entry Type

The Record Type will display the type of log entry.

Note: The type of record will generally correlate to the Table ID for the Entity. Filtering by Log Record Type will help locate specific events for further analysis. For example, if you wish to view all report activity, filter by Record Type “R”.

Organization ID / User ID

 The Organization ID and the User ID is from the target user.
 

Source IP

Source IP of the login request.

Remote IP : IP address of the client employing salesforce.com services.

URI

This is the tail of the URL called by the Activity. It may be a script reference or an Entity ID. Entity ID is a 15-digit code consisting of a 3-digit prefix (the Table ID) and a 12-digit record ID.

Good to know: You can determine which Object or Record was accessed by the target user by entering the EntityID in the Address Bar after the "salesforce.com/" portion of the Organization URL.


For example: https://na1.salesforce.com/[EntityID]
This will display the details for whatever entity has been entered.
