Record Type Field Missing from Standard Order Object Report in Salesforce

Date de publication: May 4, 2026
Description

Unlike other standard Salesforce objects — such as Account, Contact, or Opportunity — the Record Type field is not available by default within the standard report type for the Orders object. This means users cannot filter, group, or display Order records by Record Type when using the built-in "Orders" standard report type.

Résolution

To use the Record Type field in Order reports, create a  Custom Report Type  (CRT) in Salesforce. A Custom Report Type allows administrators to define which objects and fields are available in a report, including fields not included in standard report types.
Steps to create a Custom Report Type for Orders with the Record Type field:

  1. Go to Setup > Report Types > New Custom Report Type.
  2. Set the Primary Object to Orders.
  3. Enter a Label and Description (e.g., "Orders with Record Type"), and set the Deployment Status to Deployed.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the Fields Available for Reports section, add the Record Type field to the available fields layout.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Build your Order reports using this new Custom Report Type — it will now include the Record Type field for filtering and grouping.
