Enable Tag Manager Permission in Salesforce Profiles

Julkaisupäivä: Apr 22, 2026
Kuvaus

The Tag Manager permission allows users to manage tags — including renaming and deleting them. This permission is only visible in profiles after the Public Tags feature has been activated for your organization. For example, a System Administrator may need to assign Tag Manager to specific users to allow them to clean up or reorganize tags used across records. Without the Public Tags activation, the Tag Manager permission will not appear when editing profiles.

Note: The Tag Manager permission and Tags UI are only available in Salesforce Classic. Tags are not currently supported in Lightning Experience. See the idea post: Tags are not available in Lightning Experience, can this be added to LEX?

What Is Tag Manager?

Tag Manager is a profile permission that enables users to rename and delete tags in Salesforce Classic. It is dependent on the Public Tags feature being active in your organization.

Available Editions:

Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer

How to Activate:

Submit an activation request with Salesforce Support

Prerequisites:

Review the Salesforce documentation on Tags and confirm whether Public Tags is currently enabled in your organization before submitting a support request.

Ratkaisu

The Tag Manager profile permission depends on whether Public Tags has been activated for your organization.

Check If Public Tags Is Enabled

To confirm if Public Tags has been turned on, a System Administrator should navigate to Setup:

  • From Setup, enter Tag Settings in the Quick Find box, then select Tag Settings.

If the Enable Public Tags section is not visible, Public Tags has not been activated and an activation request with Salesforce Support is required.

Requesting Activation

If you've reviewed all relevant documentation and still need assistance with activating this feature, please have a System Administrator create an activation request with Support.

When submitting your activation request, please include the following details in the Support Case:

  1. What is the Organization ID of the Production or Sandbox? (Navigate to Setup | Company Profile | Company Information)
  2. Are you the System Administrator authorized on behalf of this organization to request this feature?
  3. Specific details on how this feature or permission will benefit the business once enabled.

Post Activation Steps:

Once Public Tags is activated by Salesforce Support, a System Administrator must then go to Setup > Tag Settings and enable Public Tags for the permission to appear in profiles.
