Tracking Marketing Cloud 'List-Unsubscribe' opt-outs

List-Unsubscribe headers provide one-click unsubscribe functionality in supporting email clients.

Methods

mailto: SMTP-based. A message is sent to a unique address, resulting in an unsubscribe.
HTTP: Used by the List-Unsubscribe-Post method. The URL used for the POST method is the base Subscription Center page.

Data Retrieval

• Recorded in data view _BusinessUnitUnsubscribes with UnsubReason "Unsubscribed by Salesforce Marketing Cloud RMM service based on subscriber Leave/Reply email.   
• Available through the EngagementEvents.EmailUnsubscribe Webhook with the reason "UnsubscribeMethod":"reply".

HTTP

• Available within the Data View BusinessUnitUnsubscribes with the reason "Unsubscribed from the Subscription Center".

Please note that when BusinessUnit's Unsubscribe Setting is "Subscribers will be unsubscribed from all business units in the Enterprise", _BusinessUnitUnsubscribes record isn't populated. To verify this configuration, please go Setup > Business Units -> Click on the Business Unit listed and scroll down to "Unsubscribe Settings"

Note: Bot clicks will be able to “click” on this link but that action *will not* unintentionally unsubscribe a subscriber. The provided link requires either a POST action (BOT’s do a GET and not a POST) or a user action on the page, to initiate an unsubscribe for the subscriber
