Enable Customizable Person Names in Salesforce

Customizable Person Names can be enabled directly in your organization's Setup menu without contacting Salesforce Support.

Steps to Enable

Navigate to the User Interface settings using one of the paths below:

• Salesforce Classic: Setup | Customize | User Interface
• Lightning Experience: Gear icon | Setup | PLATFORM TOOLS | User Interface | User Interface

Under Name Settings, select:

1. Enable Middle Names for Person Names
2. Enable Name Suffixes for Person Names
3. Then click Save.

Where Names Appear:

Once enabled, Middle Names and Suffixes will display alongside full person names throughout Salesforce, except in the following areas:

• Activities (includes new Events, new Tasks, and shared activity lookup search results)
• Calendar (includes meeting invitations and the 'Scheduled Meetings' section on the Home tab)
• Campaigns (includes 'Campaign Member' lists)
• Chatter
• Cloud Scheduler
• Data.com records
• Forecasts (includes the Collaborative Forecasting page)
• Opportunities (includes opportunity stage history, the 'Opportunity Sharing Detail' page, and the 'Opportunity Split Edit' page)
• Price Books (includes Price Book history)
• The fields 'Middle name' and 'Suffix' are not present in the list of fields in the Object Manager and are only displayed upon creation and editing of records.

Limitations:

The Middle Name and Suffix fields are not universally supported across all Salesforce features. Review the list above to understand where these fields will and will not appear before enabling this feature in your organization.
