Convert a Knowledge Article to PDF does not maintain word wrap format

Data pubblicazione: May 30, 2026
Descrizione

When you convert a Knowledge Article to PDF from a Salesforce Case, the resulting PDF may not maintain the expected word wrap formatting. Specifically, content may appear to run off the edge of the page rather than wrapping within the page margins.
This issue occurs when the article contains an image or a link URL that is wider than the standard PDF page width. The PDF converter uses the raw source width of the content, which can cause overflow for images and long unformatted URLs.

Risoluzione

The following steps address the formatting issue for both images and links in Knowledge Articles that are converted to PDF.

Fixing Oversized Images

If an image in the article is causing the content to exceed the PDF page width:

  1. Resize the original image in an image editor before inserting it into the article
  2. Remove the existing oversized image from the article
  3. Re-insert the resized image into the article

Important Note: If you resize an image after it is already inserted into a Knowledge Article, the PDF converter retains the original image dimensions and ignores the resize. Always resize the image file itself before inserting it.

Fixing Long Link URLs

If a link URL (rather than linked text) is causing the content to exceed the PDF page width, convert the URL to a text hyperlink:

  1. Type a descriptive text label for the link destination. For example: Salesforce Home Page
  2. Highlight the text
  3. Click the Link button in the article editor
  4. Enter the destination URL. For example: https://www.salesforce.com/
  5. Click OK

The link now appears as readable text (for example: Salesforce Home Page) and maintains its formatting when converted to PDF.
