Salesforce mobile app supports:

Notes & Attachments Limitations:

  • Documents and any attachments uploaded through the 'Notes & Attachments' related list on a record aren't guaranteed to be accessible in the Salesforce Mobile App.
  • The 'New Note' button isn’t available on the 'Notes & Attachments' related list or as a global action in Lightning App pages on the Salesforce Mobile App.
  • The content in the 'Notes & Attachments' related list may show in the app, but Salesforce can't guarantee they will be viewable/downloadable in the app.

Content Previews:

Salesforce does not guarantee all file types and their contained features will properly generate previews in Content. You can read more about this limitation in our "Content file preview issues" article.

Files Requirements

Users need to use the 'Files' tab or action to upload documents to be available in Salesforce for Android and iOS. There are some basic requirements that you'll want to keep in mind while uploading content.

  • Files formats supported include  .docx.pdf.ppt.pptx.xls, and .xlsx
  • All image files are supported including .gif.jpg, and .png
  • Files cannot be deleted from within Salesforce for Android and iOS
  • For the 'File' action to show in the app, 'Feed Tracking' must be enabled on the object (fields do not have to be tracked, but it must be enabled).  See Actions with or without Chatter.
  • Android does NOT allow previews for .doc and .docx file types, iOS allows previews for .docx files.
  • 100 MBs is the maximum supported file upload size.  Please keep in mind network bandwidth plays a critical role in the size of uploads, as well as the speed with which they are uploaded.
  • Files larger than 5MB may not be previewed inside the app and will need to be opened in another program.
  • Using non-supported image files within formula fields (e.g. .ICO files) will not display within the mobile application.
  • The visible area for an Image Formula in the Salesforce for Android and iOS list view is 16 X 16 pixels.  Using images larger than 16 X 16 will result in the image being cut off.
  • The ability to select multiple photos from the camera roll is not available in the Salesforce App. Only one image can be selected at a time, or one attachment can be added per comment or post.
  • When using the Salesforce App Chatter feed, only one file at a time is supported and the app also does not support multiple file uploads via third-party apps.

Files and Attachments

  • For Android Users:
    • When Using Salesforce Files Action, you're only able to attach existing Salesforce Files.
    • To add new files from your device, use the 'Post' action and tap the paper clip icon.
    • When posting in the Field Service and Operations Mobile app, the File option only shows on Android.
  • For iOS Users:
    • When Using Salesforce Files Action, you're only able to attach photos and videos
    • To Add new files, such as docs and PDFs, from your device:
    1. Open up the File on the device, choose the share feature and the "Send a copy" or "share via"button where depending on your device settings you should be able to select Salesforce as an option. See Apple Documentation: Find files on your iPhone or iPad in the Files app
    2. After sharing into the Salesforce App, the newly created Salesforce File will now show up in the "Owned By Me" Files list.
    3. You can then associate it to the Salesforce record using the Post or File action and choose the File from within Salesforce.
  • For Field Service and Operations Mobile Users:
    1. When using the Post action, you are only able to attach photos and videos on iOS. Android users will see the additional option of File.
