What MIME types does Email-to-Case and Email-to-Salesforce (E2X) support?
E2X refers to any type of inbound email service, including Email-to-Case (E2C) and Email-to-Salesforce (E2SF).
MIME stands for Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extensions. MIME types form a standard way of classifying file types on the internet. Web servers and browsers maintain a list of MIME types so that they can transfer files of the same type in the same way, regardless of the operating system.
A MIME type has two parts — a type and a subtype — separated by a slash (/).
Example:
The MIME type for Microsoft Word files is application and the subtype is msword. Together, the complete MIME type is application/msword.
Email-to-Case (E2C) and Email-to-Salesforce (E2SF) — collectively referred to as E2X — support the following inbound MIME (Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extensions) types for attachments and email body content:
Any MIME type not included in the list above will not be processed by inbound E2X services. If an email attachment uses an unsupported MIME type, it may be dropped or ignored during ingestion.
