After enabling the Supply Default Opportunity Line Item Values feature, the Sales Price and Quantity fields continue to appear required when adding products to an opportunity.
This can be confusing because the feature description indicates that these fields become optional.
For example, a sales rep adding a product to an opportunity may notice these fields still prompt for input, even though the setting is enabled and expected to remove that requirement.
When the feature is enabled, Salesforce does not remove the requirement for values in the Sales Price and Quantity fields. These fields remain inherently required at the system level, meaning they must always contain values for the record to be saved.
In this scenario, “optional” does not mean the fields no longer require values. Instead, it means:
Because of this behavior, the fields may still appear required if they are present on the layout, even though user input is no longer necessary when defaults are applied.
To learn more about these fields, please review Set 'Sales Price' or 'Quantity' as optional on an Opportunity.
