Increase External ID Limit in Salesforce

Date de publication: Apr 22, 2026
Description

This article explains how to request an increase to the maximum number of External ID fields allowed per object in Salesforce. External IDs are custom fields marked as unique identifiers that help integrate Salesforce with external systems. Some organizations with complex integration needs may require more External ID fields than the default limit allows per object. For example, an organization integrating with multiple external platforms such as an ERP, a billing system, and a support tool may need to designate more External ID fields on a single object to accommodate all their external record identifiers.
