Full 'data export' files not available for download

Description

There are a couple reasons an administrator might receive an email stating that the data export completed but then finds that the files aren't there and can't be downloaded.

Résolution
The cause of this is typically one of two things, both are expected functionality.
 
  • Over 48 business hours have passed since the export completed.
If your organization has a very large number of files that will take more than 48 hours to download, log a case with Support and we can enable a feature that removes the time restriction. (Note - Only available for Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions)
 
  • A new export request was submitted. The start of the new export will automatically delete the files generated by the previous export.
For example, if the previous export completes processing on a Friday, and the new export is scheduled to start on a Sunday, the previous export will not be available to download on Monday.

As a best practice, schedule your export to start at the end of a day that you will have availability to download the previous export. In the above example, you might reschedule the export to start on Monday evening, allowing Monday to download the previous export.
