In Salesforce Classic, if a user cannot see the Publish button on the Knowledge article edit page, this is typically because the Publish Article Action has not been assigned to the Public Group that the user is assigned to.This article explains how to configure Article Actions in Salesforce Classic Knowledge to make the Publish button visible for the appropriate users.

Important: This solution applies to Salesforce Classic only. In Salesforce Classic, Knowledge uses Article Types to manage article permissions. Article Types have been replaced by Record Types in Lightning Knowledge.

Configure Article Actions to Enable the Publish Button in Salesforce Classic

Follow these steps to assign the Publish Article Action to a Public Group, which will make the Publish button visible for users in that group:

  1. Click Setup.
  2. Under Builder, click Customize.
  3. Click Knowledge.
  4. Click Article Actions.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. On the Publish Article Action field, you may choose one of the following:
    • All — This reveals the Publish button for all Article Managers (users with Manage Articles permission) who have Create, Read, Edit, and Delete (CRED) permissions on the respective article types.
    • Specific Public Groups — Select specific groups to limit who can publish articles.

Note: This configuration applies to Salesforce Classic only. Article Types used in Classic have been replaced by Record Types in Lightning Knowledge.
