'Email Privileges Revoked' on email delivery from production or sandbox

Дата публикации: Jun 28, 2026
Описание

The following error message appears when a user tries to send an email from a Salesforce organization:

"Email Privileges Revoked. Your organization's email privileges have been revoked due to non-compliance with our Terms of Use. Please contact your salesforce.com administrator or submit a case to have a salesforce.com representative contact you. Click here to return to the previous page."

This error also causes the following symptoms in the organization:

  • Users do not see the Send an Email button in the Contact, Lead, or Case related list, even if it has been added to the object related list page layout.
  • Workflow or auto-response rules and Apex code that are designed to send emails do not send emails, and the error "Email Privileges Revoked" appears.

This error applies to both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.

Root Cause

The "Email Privileges Revoked" error occurs when the Email Deliverability setting in the Salesforce organization is set to No Access or System Email Only. This setting controls whether the organization can send emails to external addresses. When set to No Access, all outbound email sending is blocked. This is the default setting when a Salesforce sandbox is newly created or refreshed, which is a common reason this error appears after sandbox creation.

Resolution Steps

To resolve the "Email Privileges Revoked" error, update the Email Deliverability access level by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Salesforce with a System Administrator profile.
  2. Go to Setup.
  3. In the Quick Find box, type Deliverability and select Deliverability from the results.
  4. Under Access to Send Email, change the Access Level setting to All Email.
  5. Click Save.

Email sending is now restored for the organization.

Important Notes

  • The Email Deliverability access is set to No Access by default when a sandbox is newly created or refreshed. Always verify this setting after sandbox creation.
  • Only users with System Administrator privileges can change the Email Deliverability settings.
  • Changes made to the email access level in Salesforce are visible in the Setup Audit Trail for compliance tracking.
