Phone field with extension number does not work in Salesforce

Description

If you have the phone field with an extension in it you cannot use the CTI soft phone, Salesforce for iOS and Android, or Salesforce Classic, as it is not a valid phone number.
Résolution
To workaround this, you can create a custom number or text field for the phone extension. The only difference is, you would need to manually input the extension number after you make the call.
