This article explains how to request an increase to the maximum number of VLOOKUP function calls allowed per object in Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud) and Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud) formula fields. The VLOOKUP function in Sales and Service formula fields allows you to reference and return values from related records. By default, you can use up to 10 VLOOKUP function calls per object. If your complex business logic requires more lookups — for example, calculating commissions based on multiple tier tables in Sales, you can request an increase to 20 calls.
Organizations that rely on complex multi-tier formulas, pricing logic, or cross-object lookups may find the default limit insufficient to support their business requirements. When the 10-call limit is reached, formula fields referencing additional VLOOKUP functions will return an error and cannot be saved, preventing further configuration until the limit is increased.
Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer
Default Limit: 10 VLOOKUP function calls per object (Example: A formula field that references lookup tables for region, tier, product, discount, and currency simultaneously may reach this limit quickly when combined with other formulas on the same object.)
Maximum Limit: 20 VLOOKUP function calls per object
Submit a limit increase request with Salesforce Support
Review your existing formula fields on the object to confirm the current number of VLOOKUP function calls in use before submitting a limit increase request. This helps Support confirm the need for the increase and process the request efficiently.
Organizations may reach the default limit of 10 VLOOKUP function calls per object when building complex formula fields that reference multiple related records or lookup tables. When this limit is hit, Salesforce prevents additional VLOOKUP formulas from being saved on that object, which can block the creation or update of formula fields that are critical to business processes such as tiered commission calculations, multi-product pricing models, or cross-object data references in Sales and Service.
To resolve this, the limit can be increased from 10 to a maximum of 20 VLOOKUP function calls per object with the assistance of Salesforce Support.
If you've reviewed all relevant documentation and still need assistance with increasing this limit, please have a System Administrator create a limit increase request with Support.
