Enable 'Local Name' fields

Publiseringsdato: Apr 22, 2026
Beskrivelse

Local Name fields allow organizations to store translated or localized versions of standard name fields, which is essential for multinational companies that need to display names in multiple languages or scripts. For example, a Japanese employee might have their name stored in both Latin characters and Japanese characters, or a Chinese customer might need their name in both simplified and traditional Chinese.

This feature exposes additional field options that allow a translated version of text fields to be manually defined. This feature is useful for global organizations operating across multiple regions and languages.

  3. Select Page Layout and click the page layout to edit it.

Feature Notes

When viewed from a report, empty local name fields display different values depending on whether the report is standard or custom. If the local name field is empty:

  • Once enabled, these fields may not be visible by default. Administrators will need to ensure the fields are added to a Page Layout and made visible via Field Level Security.
  • Standard reports display the value from the standard name field. So if First Name (Local) is empty, the value for First Name is displayed.
  • Custom reports display an empty value. So if First Name (Local) is empty, the field is displayed empty.
  • 'Local Names' is not supported for Scratch Organizations and cannot be enabled manually by Support for those environments.
