This setting, called Customize My Tabs, lets individual users hide, show, and reorder navigation items to match their workflow — without requiring an administrator to reconfigure the app for them.
This article explains how to enable Customize My Tabs in both Salesforce Classic and Salesforce Lightning Experience.
