This article explains how to request an increase to the maximum number of Content Versions that can be published per day. Content Versions represent each unique file uploaded to Salesforce Files. Each time a file is uploaded or a new version is created, it counts toward the daily limit. Organizations using bulk file uploads, data migration tools, or automated file generation may need to increase this limit.
The daily limit represents the number of files that can be added to Salesforce Content within a rolling 24-hour period.
Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer
| Environment Type | Default | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Production | 200,000 | 500,000 |
| Sandbox | 200,000 | 500,000 |
| Developer Edition | 2,500 | 2,500 |
| Trial Environments | 2,500 | 2,500 |
Review your organization's file upload volume and provide a business justification before submitting a limit increase request. Requests for the maximum limit without sufficient justification will not be approved. Note that no increases above 500,000 will be granted for active environments.
If you've reviewed all relevant documentation and still need assistance with increasing this limit, please have a System Administrator create a limit increase request with Support.
When submitting the limit increase request, please include the following details in the case description:
How did you arrive at the volume being requested?
What is the approximate number of files being inserted as a result of this request?
What is the requested duration for the increase?
How did you arrive at that duration?
The Maximum number of Content Versions limit resets on a rolling 24-hour basis, similar to API calls.
No further increases will be granted above the 500,000 limit for active environments.
Sandbox increases will reset to the default limit in the event of a Sandbox refresh.
Developer Edition and Trial environments are not eligible for limit increases beyond their default of 2,500.
