Error: "Insufficient Access Rights on Cross-Reference ID" When Saving CRM Analytics Assets

Дата публикации: Jun 29, 2026
Описание

When attempting to save CRM Analytics assets — such as datasets — users may encounter the error: "Insufficient access rights on cross-reference id". This error occurs in two specific circumstances:

  1. Saving a dataset into a Templated App without access: A user attempts to save a dataset using Dataset Creator into a Templated App (such as Sales Analytics) for which they do not have the required app access permissions.
  2. Sales Cloud Einstein contractual restriction: The org uses the Sales Analytics for Sales Cloud Einstein App. Per contractual obligations, users are not permitted to make changes to this app, including manually uploading Quota data directly into Sales Analytics.

In both cases, the user does not have the necessary permissions to write assets to the target app.

Решение

This error indicates a permissions or contractual restriction on the target CRM Analytics app. The appropriate resolution depends on which scenario applies.

General Resolution

Save the impacted asset into a different CRM Analytics app to which the user has full access.

Sales Analytics for Sales Cloud Einstein — Quota Data

Manually uploading Quota data directly into the Sales Analytics for Sales Cloud Einstein App is not supported. The following options are available:
Long-Term Solution: Use Collaborative Forecasting
Once Collaborative Forecasting is enabled and  Quotas are set up , Sales Analytics automatically ingests Quota data after the App is reconfigured .
Short-Term Solution: Dataflow-Based Quota Upload
To manually load Quota data into the Sales Analytics for Sales Cloud Einstein App, upload the Quota data into a separate app and use a dataflow to copy it into the Sales Analytics App using an Edgemart–sfdcRegister node pair.
Step 1 — Create or Back Up an Existing Dataflow
If Data Sync is enabled, create a new Dataflow. Without Data Sync, back up the existing Dataflow by selecting Download in the Dataflow Editor or in Data Manager under Dataflows and Recipes.
Step 2 — Upload the Replacement Dataset
Upload the CSV file containing the Quota data into a separate app using the Create > Dataset > CSV option in CRM Analytics Studio.
Step 3 — Create a Dataflow Definition
In a JSON editor, create a new dataflow definition with an Edgemart node to reference the uploaded dataset and an sfdcRegister node to overwrite the Quota dataset in Sales Analytics. Use the alias of the newly uploaded dataset (for example, Replacement_A) as the source, and set the sfdcRegister alias to plain_quota (or plain_quota1 if the dataset alias is appended with a number in your org). Save this as a JSON file.
Step 4 — Upload and Run the Dataflow
Upload the dataflow definition JSON and run it. This copies the contents of the replacement dataset into the Quota dataset in Sales Analytics.
Step 5 — Verify Dataset Visibility
Confirm that the Quota dataset in Sales Analytics shows the correct data. Delete the replacement dataset to avoid consuming unnecessary dataset row limits.
Step 6 — Run the Sales Analytics Dataflow
To surface the updated Quota data in Sales Analytics dashboards, run the Sales Analytics for Sales Cloud Einstein App dataflow.
Step 7 — Clean Up
If you used an existing dataflow for this process, restore the original backed-up dataflow definition and run it to ensure normal dataflow operation resumes.
