Prerequisites, Licensing Requirements, and Irreversible Effects of Enabling CRM Analytics

Before enabling CRM Analytics, it’s important to understand the licensing requirements, setup steps, and system changes that occur as part of the enablement process.

Consider the following important points prior to enabling CRM Analytics

  • CRM Analytics requires add-on licenses. These must be provisioned through your Account Team.
  • CRM Analytics will be initially provisioned to the Production environment. Like all new functionality, we recommend testing in a Sandbox first. Information about provisioning CRM Analytics in a Sandbox can be found here.
  • Once CRM Analytics is provisioned, it must be enabled through the following path:

Effects of enabling CRM Analytics

1. Two new Licenses are upserted: "Analytics Cloud Integration User" and "Analytics Cloud Security User"
2. Two new Profiles are upserted: "Analytics Cloud Integration User Profile" and "Analytics Cloud Security User Profile"
3. Two new Users are upserted, associated with the respective License and Profile: "Integration User" and "Security User"
4. The Default Salesforce Dataflow is upserted.
5. Auto-installed apps (Learning Adventure, Customer Insights) are recreated if "Enable Auto Installation of Apps" is turned on in Setup > Analytics > Settings.


NOTE: These Users and Profiles cannot be removed once created. This aspect of CRM Analytics enablement is irreversible. More details regarding disabling CRM Analytics can be found here.

After clicking Enable CRM Analytics in Setup, complete the following mandatory post-enablement steps: assign CRM Analytics licenses to users, configure the Integration User, and enable Data Sync. For detailed setup steps, see the CRM Analytics Setup Guide.
