Email alert 'From' address is different than current User's email address

Description

If the configured 'From' Email Address is set to the current User's email address, but a particular User triggers the workflow and the email alert, the email's 'From' address is that of a completely different User.

 

Résolution

The 'From' email address is determined by the Email Address under 'My Email Settings.' 

Configure 'My Email Settings' so that current User's email address appears in alert email 'From' field

1. Ask the affected User to navigate to:
  • Saleforce Classic (Non-Enhanced User Interface): Your Name | Setup | Email | My Email Settings | Email Address.
  • Saleforce Classic (Enhanced User Interface): Your Name | My Settings | Email | My Email Settings | Email Address.
  • Lightning Experience: View Profile | Settings | Email | My Email Settings | Email Address.
2. Verify that the Email Address is the correct email address for the affected User.
