Error: 'This extension depends on the package you are trying to uninstall' in Salesforce

This article explains how to resolve the package uninstall dependency error in Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.

Step 1: Identify the Dependent Package

If the error message includes a link to the dependent package name, click the link. If no link appears, note the package name referenced in the error message.

Step 2: Delete the Dependent Extension Package

In Salesforce Classic

1. Go to Setup > Create > Packages.
2. Click the package referenced in the error.
3. Click Delete.

In Lightning Experience

1. Click Setup > Apps > Package Manager.
2. Click the package referenced in the error.
3. Click Delete.

Step 3: Retry the Original Uninstall

After deleting the extension package, return to Installed Packages and uninstall the original package.

Special Case: Package Created in Production

If this error occurs in a sandbox and the extension package was created in the production org, you must:

1. Delete the package in Production first.
2. Refresh the sandbox to remove the dependency.
3. Then uninstall the package in the sandbox.

If the Package Cannot Be Found

If the error does not include a link to the package, or the package cannot be found under Setup > Create > Packages or Setup > Installed Packages, log a case with Salesforce Support and provide the full error message and org details.
