This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up translations for custom object tab names and field labels in Salesforce.

Translating Tab Names and Field Labels for Custom Objects

You can translate tab names and field labels for custom objects using the following settings.

 

■Custom Object Tabs

The tab name of a custom object can be translated from Rename Tabs and Labels in Setup.

Salesforce Classic

  1. Click Setup at the top of the Salesforce screen.

  2. Navigate to Customize | Tab Names and Labels | Rename Tabs and Labels to open the Rename Tabs and Labels page.

  3. From the Select Language dropdown list, choose the desired language, then click Edit for the custom object you want to translate.

  4. Edit the record name and other labels as needed, then click Save.

Lightning Experience

  1. Click Setup (gear icon) in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  2. Navigate to User Interface | Rename Tabs and Labels to open the Rename Tabs and Labels page.

  3. From the Select Language dropdown list, choose the desired language, then click Edit for the custom object you want to translate.

  4. Edit the record name and other labels as needed, then click Save.

By following these steps, you can configure translations for custom object tab names on a per-language basis.

■ Custom Fields

Custom field labels can be translated using the Translation Workbench.

Classic

  1. Click Setup at the top of the Salesforce screen.

  2. Navigate to Translation Workbench | Translate to open the Translate page.

  3. Set the following options:

    • Language: (any desired language)

    • Setup Component: Custom Field

    • Object: Target object

    • Aspect: Field Label

  4. Double-click the corresponding field under Translate Field Label, edit the translation, and click Save.

Lightning Experience

  1. Click Setup (gear icon) in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  2. Navigate to User Interface | Translation Workbench | Translate to open the Translate page.

  3. Set the following options:

    • Language: (any desired language)

    • Setup Component: Custom Field

    • Object: Target object

    • Aspect: Field Label
