Error: "Failed converting CSV data to bin format" for external data upload in CRM Analytics

Date de publication: Oct 10, 2023
Description

When uploading or updating a dataset from external data, you may receive an error regarding converting CSV data to "bin" format. This appears two ways:

Error executing node digest: failed converting CSV data to "bin" format: empty edgemart - nothing loaded from CSV file, load

This indicates that the source data has no good rows and could not be processed. No error log will result as the file completely failed.

Error executing node digest: failed converting CSV data to "bin" format: exceeded maximum number of errors, 10000

This indicates that the source data generated over 10,000 errors and could not be processed. No error log will result as the number of errors exceeds the batch size for handling.
Résolution

For "empty edgemart - nothing loaded from CSV file, load":

1. Add a "known good" dummy row, ensuring that all the cells are formatted correctly

2. Use that CSV to create/update a dataset. If creating a new dataset, ensure that the metadata is set correctly through the "Preview Data" screen

3. This will generate an error log. This can be retrieved from the Data Monitor and will allow you to determine the root cause

For "exceeded maximum number of errors, 10000":

1. Truncate the CSV to less than 10k rows

2. Add a "known good" dummy row, ensuring that all the cells are formatted correctly

3. Use that CSV to create/update a dataset. If creating a new dataset, ensure that the metadata is set correctly through the "Preview Data" screen

4. This will generate an error log. This can be retrieved from the Data Monitor and will allow you to determine the root cause
