Change Salesforce Sandbox Administrator Email Address When Locked Out

Publiceringsdatum: Jul 15, 2026
Beskrivning

Email addresses on Salesforce sandbox User records are automatically appended with .invalid after a sandbox refresh to render them inactive (for example, "user@sandbox.com.invalid"). To learn more about this behavior, review Email addresses in sandbox appended with '.invalid' after refresh.

In most cases, another Salesforce Administrator with sandbox access can update the affected user's email address directly. However, if you are the only system administrator in the sandbox and you have forgotten your sandbox password, you will not receive a password reset email because of the ".invalid" modification. This prevents sandbox access entirely.

Lösning

This article explains how to regain Salesforce sandbox access when you are the only administrator and email masking blocks the password reset flow.

If You Are the Only Administrator and Need a Sandbox Email Change

When no other system administrator can access the sandbox to update your email address, you can create a case with the Activations Team. The Salesforce Support Team can update your email address without requiring a written request from a C-Level employee.

Email Address Matching Requirements

Salesforce Support will only update the sandbox email address to match the active corresponding production User record, based on the username. If a different email address is needed, the Admin Email Change Request process must be followed instead. Please use the process detailed below if this applies to your situation.

User Email Change Example

For example, if your sandbox administrator username is admin@sandbox.com, Salesforce Support will update your email as follows:

  • Previous email: admin@sandbox.com.invalid
  • Updated email: admin@sandbox.com
