When a user creates or edits a record, formula fields are not visible on the Edit page. Formula fields derive their values from saved record data and are therefore not available during the creation of a new record — the field can only display a value once the record has been saved.
This article explains why formula fields do not appear on edit screens and what options are available in Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.
Formula fields calculate their value based on other field values on a saved record. Because the values of source fields are not finalized until a record is saved, formula fields cannot display calculated values during the creation or inline editing of a record.
Formula fields cannot display on the Edit screen in the Salesforce Classic interface.
If users need to see formula field values in Classic, the following alternatives are available:
Formula fields are available and visible in Lightning Experience. After saving a record, the formula field value is displayed on the record detail page.
