Løsning
This is a hidden field that gets populated by the browser. If the field is not populating then the issue lies within the browser. One known issue is if the browser is passing the file through as octet/stream instead of its correct file type. When this happens Salesforce will null the field.

There are several tools that can be used to monitor this behavior, however, there is a different tool for each browser and these tools are not supported by Salesforce
  • For Internet Explorer you can use Http Analyzer.
  • Firefox can use Firebug.
  • Chrome does not have any known tools however it may be possible to troubleshoot with the Java Console (Ctrl+Shift+J)

File Types Manager can be used to alter the file types if necessary.

Since browsers are always being updated and changed it would be best to remove the dependence on the content type. If this field is vital then your IT team can use one of the mentioned tools above to assist in further troubleshooting.

Below are some of the known supported file types. Keep in mind there are many file types and it would be difficult to identify them all. If the file type being used is not showing below it does not mean it is not supported:

PDF ,PPT, PPTX , PPTM, WORD, WORDX,WORDM,PPSX,EXCEL,EXCELX,EXCELM,AAC,AVI ,BMP, CSV ,EPS, EXE ,FLASH,GIF , HTML, THTML ,JPG ,JS ,MP3, MPEG , MOV ,PNG ,PSD, RTF ,TRTF ,TEXT , VISIO, WMV,XML ,TXML,ZIP , WEBVIEW , RFC822 ,XZIP ,ASF, DWG, JAR, XJS ,OPX ,XPSD ,TIFF, WAV, CSS ,MA4 ,M4V ,MP4
