Mass Delete Content and Libraries with Data Loader

Дата публикации: Apr 10, 2024
Описание
Data Loader can be used to mass or bulk delete Content, Files, and Libraries.

Note: Salesforce recommends that you use the Data Export to perform a backup prior to the deletion of any records within your organization. Data Loader cannot be used to export the actual files.

To delete Content or Files from your organization:

Pre-requisite: Make sure "Query All Files" permission is enabled for you. It's not automatically enabled even for System Admins. If it's not enabled, all Content records won't be visible to you. See steps to enable permission.

1. Log into Data Loader

2. Select 'Export'

3. Check Show all Salesforce objects" and select Content (ContentDocument) object

Note: Deleting a ContentDocument will automatically delete all related ContentVersion records.

4. Select Id and any other desired fields and follow the prompts to complete your export.

Reference: Exporting Data

5. Review the resulting CSV file to verify the Content to be deleted. Erase any rows that contain Files that should not be deleted. Save the resulting file in the .CSV (comma delimited) format.

6. Return to Data Loader, and click Delete

7. Follow the prompts to select the CSV file you reviewed in step 5 and delete the Content For more information, see Inserting, Updating, or Deleting Data Using Data Loader.

Once the content is deleted, navigate to the Library in your org to delete it.

  • In Salesforce Classic: Libraries tab | Library name | Delete

  • In Lightning Experience: Files tab | Libraries | (Choose the specific library) | Delete
