Activity visibility on related objects Account record

Beskrivelse

Please note that "Roll up activities to a contact's primary account" needs to be enabled first before you can understand what determines whether an activity shows in the Activity History or Open Activities related list of an account.
Løsning

Once that has been taken care of, you need to know the following:
1. The Activities will only show if the AccountID field of the activity, has an associated account.
2. The value of the AccountID field can be different depending on some circumstances, here's how this field is calculated:

Note: Each activity record has an AccountID field that is different from the WhatID (the Related To field) and WhoID (the Name field). However, the value for the AccountID field is calculated by inspecting the WhoID and the WhatID, with the WhatID taking precedence.

  • If the WhatID is an account, the AccountID is that account.
  • If the WhatID is an opportunity, the AccountID is the account associated with that opportunity.
  • If the WhatID is a contract, the AccountID is the account associated with that contract.
  • If the WhatID is a Custom object that is the detail record in a master-detail relationship where account is the master, the AccountID is the account associated with that custom object.

If the AccountID cannot be derived from the WhatID using the above, then we look to the WhoID. If the WhoID happens to be a contact with an associated account, then the AccountID is the account associated with that contact. This is also explained in Task.

AccountID:
'This is the account of WhatId if it exists**, otherwise it’s the account of WhoId if it exists**'
'If a What Id exists, we'll use the Account of the WhatId. If not, we'll use the Account of the WhoId, if a WhoId exists.'
