Available Picklist Values and Default Picklist Value Not Retained When Deploying a Record Type Using a Change Set

Fecha de publicación: May 19, 2026
Descripción

When deploying a Record Type using a Change Set in Salesforce, the selected Available picklist values and the Default value configured in the source org may not carry over to the destination org after deployment.
This occurs when the picklist field associated with the Record Type is not included as a required dependency in the Change Set. Salesforce does not automatically include dependent picklist fields when a Record Type is added to a Change Set — they must be added manually.

Solución

To ensure picklist values and the default value are preserved during deployment, include the picklist field as an explicit dependency in the Change Set before uploading it.

Steps to Include Picklist Fields as Dependencies

From the Source Organization:

  1. Navigate to Setup and enter Outbound Change Sets in the Quick Find box.
  2. Select Outbound Change Sets.
  3. Create a new Change Set or edit an existing one.
  4. Add the Record Type under the Change Set Components section if it is not already included.
  5. Click View/Add Dependencies.
  6. Review the list of dependencies and select the required picklist fields associated with the Record Type.
  7. Click Add to Change Set.
  8. Upload the Change Set to the destination organization.
  9. Validate and Deploy the Change Set in the destination organization.

After deployment, open the Record Type in the target org and verify that the correct Available values and Default value are now reflected.
