When deploying a Record Type using a Change Set in Salesforce, the selected Available picklist values and the Default value configured in the source org may not carry over to the destination org after deployment.
This occurs when the picklist field associated with the Record Type is not included as a required dependency in the Change Set. Salesforce does not automatically include dependent picklist fields when a Record Type is added to a Change Set — they must be added manually.
To ensure picklist values and the default value are preserved during deployment, include the picklist field as an explicit dependency in the Change Set before uploading it.
From the Source Organization:
After deployment, open the Record Type in the target org and verify that the correct Available values and Default value are now reflected.
