Convert Leads in the Salesforce Mobile App

Publish Date: May 7, 2026
Description

In the Salesforce Mobile App for iOS and Android, users can convert leads in  much the same way as in the full desktop site (also referred to as the Full Site).  However, there are key differences in behavior and available options when  converting leads on mobile versus desktop. For example, users cannot associate  a converted lead to an existing Opportunity in the mobile app, and Record Types  cannot be selected during Opportunity creation. Understanding these differences  helps sales reps set the correct expectations when using lead conversion on mobile.

Resolution

It’s easy to make this option available to your sales reps.

Steps are outlined here: Enable Lead Conversion in the Salesforce Mobile App

Important Note:

If you still do not see the Convert Lead publisher action in Salesforce for Android and iOS, you will need to edit the Lead Page Layout(s) and override the pre-defined actions and then include the "Convert" publisher action from app actions. Then save the changes.

To convert qualified leads to contacts and create opportunities using Salesforce for Android and iOS, open the lead record and tap the Convert Lead on the Action Bar.

Prevent Duplicates When Converting Leads

Depending on the duplicate rules you set up for Duplicate Management, sales reps using Salesforce for Android and iOS can now receive alerts of possible duplicates for accounts and contacts when converting leads. Sales reps can then decide to either save the records that could create duplicates or select other records to avoid duplicates altogether. For more information, see Considerations for Using Duplicate Management in the Salesforce Mobile App.

Differences between Salesforce for Android and iOS and the Full Site

Please see Leads: What’s Different or Not Available in the Salesforce Mobile App and:
  • Users will convert Leads in Salesforce for Android and iOS to Contacts and Opportunities.
  • Opportunities are only created if you populate the Opportunity Name field. If left blank, only the Contact and Account (if populated) will be created. NOTE: You cannot associate the converted lead to an existing Opportunity at this time.
  • When creating an Opportunity, the Record Type cannot be selected. The new record reflects the default Opportunity Record Type on the User's Profile.
  • Users do have an option to choose an existing Account or Create a new one.  In order to create a new Account, tap into the Account Lookup on the record and select New in the Top Right.
  • Account details aren't auto-populated when creating a new account.
  • Users may see the Company name flash in the Account lookup field for a moment when converting the Lead.  This is normal as Salesforce for Android and iOS is attempting to search for the name of the Account via the lookup, if it doesn't find the record (because it doesn't exist), the field will remain blank.
  • Users can only view Converted Leads from the Recent Leads list view.  Converted Leads will not display in any other List Views in Salesforce for Android and iOS.
