Marketing Cloud Connect error during email send: 'HasOptedOutOfEmail' for Contacts and Leads

When sending using Marketing Cloud Connect an error related to HasOptedOutOfEmail indicates a permissions issue with accessing that field.  The error can mention Contacts or Leads


Example error messages:
 

  • No such column 'HasOptedOutOfEmail' on entity 'Contact'. If you are attempting to use a custom field, be sure to append the '__c' after the custom field name.
  • No such column 'HasOptedOutOfEmail' on entity 'Lead'. If you are attempting to use a custom field, be sure to append the '__c' after the custom field name.

 
Lösung

Resolve the error in Salesforce Classic

1. In Salesforce Classic, click Setup
2. Click Customize.
3. Click Contacts or Leads
4. Click Fields to view the Contact or Leads Fields workspace. 
5. Click Email Opt Out in the "Field Label" column. 
6. Click Set Field-Level Security
7. Set the Field-Level Security for each profile that will be performing Email Sends to "Visible"
 

Resolve the error in Salesforce Lightning

1. In Salesforce Lightning, go to Setup
2. Expand the Objects and Fields, then click Object Manager.
3. Click Contacts or Leads.
4. Click Fields and Relationships.
5. Select Email Opt Out.
6. Click Set Field-Level Security
7. Set the Field-Level Security for each profile that will be performing Email Sends to "Visible".
