When creating a Salesforce Contact from the Account's Contact related list, the system automatically attempts to copy the Account's address to the new Contact's Mailing Address field. This is most likely because you do not have the 'Mailing Address' field on the Contact page layout. When you create a Contact from the Account, the system attempts to fill in the address on the Contact. This fails when the Contact does not have the 'Mailing Address' field, and causes the error.

State and Country Picklist Error Messages
Page Layouts
