Change or update Record Types with Data Loader

Change or Update Record Types with Data Loader:

1. Export Data or Export a Report to CSV and include Salesforce.com record Ids for the records to be updated.
2. Locate or Find the ID of a record type you would like to apply to the records.
3. Add a column to your exported file with the header RecordTypeId and populate the column with the aforementioned Record Type Id and Save as New ensuring to keep your original export file for backup.
4. Open Data Loader and select the Update operation associate it with the correct object, and map the new RecordTypeId column to the RecordTypeId Field.
5. Complete the data load.
