This article explains how to request an increase to the maximum number of Custom Tabs available in a Salesforce org. Custom Tab limits are tied to your Salesforce edition. Higher editions support more tabs for larger implementations. Users typically hit this limit when building large-scale implementations with many custom objects, apps, or AppExchange packages that require additional tabs for navigation.

Note: Custom Tabs contained in managed packages on the AppExchange do not count against this limit.

Available Editions:

Contact Manager, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance, and Developer

Limit Details

Default Limits by Edition:

  • Contact Manager Edition: 3
  • Group Edition: 5
  • Professional Edition: 1,210
  • Enterprise Edition: 1,225
  • Unlimited Edition: 1,225
  • Performance Edition: 1,225
  • Developer Edition: 100

How to Increase:

Customers must upgrade their Salesforce edition to increase this limit. Contact your Account Executive or the Salesforce Sales Team.

Prerequisites:

Confirm your current edition and the number of Custom Tabs currently in use before reaching out.

Please contact your Account Executive for assistance with an edition upgrade. If you do not have a designated Account Executive, please reach out to the Salesforce Sales Team:

To request a limit increase in a test or demo environment, have a System Administrator log a case with Salesforce Partner Support and include:
