Enable Salesforce Connect or OData Connector

Salesforce Connect (also known as the OData Connector) provides a way to view, search, and access data stored outside of Salesforce in real time. It uses web service callouts based on OData (Open Data Protocol) to retrieve external data as virtual Salesforce objects called External Objects.

Salesforce Connect is available in the following editions:

  • Developer Edition — Included
  • Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions — Available for an additional cost

Salesforce Connect is a paid add-on feature for Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Edition orgs. To enable it:

  1. Contact your Salesforce Account Executive to have Salesforce Connect (OData Connector) added to your organization's contract.
  2. Once enabled, navigate to Setup > Integrations > Salesforce Connect to begin configuring your External Data Sources.
