Identify records imported by Data Import Wizard

This article explains how to identify and review records that were successfully imported using the Salesforce Data Import Wizard. After an import completes, Salesforce sends a confirmation email to the user who initiated the import. To review the specific records that were imported, users can access the Bulk Data Load Jobs page in Setup.
Note: The Bulk Data Load Jobs page is not available in Salesforce Professional Edition (PE) or lower. Alternative methods for identifying imported records in Professional Edition orgs are provided in this article.

To determine or review which records were successfully imported using the Data Import Wizard, follow the steps below based on your Salesforce experience.

In Salesforce Classic

  1. Click Setup, then go to Jobs | Bulk Data Load Jobs.
  2. Click the Job ID link for the relevant import job.
  3. Click View Result.
  4. Open the downloaded file using Notepad.
  5. Click File | Save As and save the file with a .csv extension.
  6. Open the .csv file to review the imported records and any error messages.

In Lightning Experience

  1. Click the gear icon, then go to Setup | Environments | Jobs | Bulk Data Load Jobs.
  2. Click the Job ID link for the relevant import job.
  3. Click View Result.
  4. Open the downloaded file using Notepad.
  5. Click File | Save As and save the file with a .csv extension.
  6. Open the .csv file to review the imported records and any error messages.

Using these steps, administrators can confirm which records were successfully imported and identify any records that may have failed.

Professional Edition Limitation

The Bulk Data Load Jobs page is not available in Salesforce Professional Edition or lower. To identify imported records in these editions:

  • Create a new List View or edit an existing list view using the filter Created Date equals [date of import] to manually compare newly created records.
  • Build a Report filtered by the import date to compare records against the data in the original import file.
