Process Builder Email Alert Error 'Given sobject does not match type for alert: Account' with Person Account Records

This error occurs in Salesforce Process Builder when a process is built on the Account object and includes an Email Alert action, but the triggering record is a Person Account — not a standard Account.

Root Cause

A Person Account in Salesforce is a combination of an Account and a Contact object. When Process Builder executes for a Person Account record, certain features like Email Alerts reference the Contact portion of the Person Account object. This causes a mismatch: the Email Alert is configured for the Account sobject type, but Process Builder references the Contact sobject type for Person Accounts.

Workaround

Use a Workflow Email Alert for Person Accounts instead of Process Builder. See: Workflow Email alert on Person account
