How New Users Log in to Salesforce for the First Time

When a new user is set up by a System Administrator, they must log in for the first time to create a password and security question to complete the setup process.

Note:

Under some scenarios, the 'Allow To Send Email' permission for the organization may be set to 0. In this situation, password reset emails will not be sent and a support case will need to be logged.

Here's How to Log In

  1. Check your inbox for the 'Welcome Email' or 'Account Verification' email. This email contains the account's username and a link to complete the setup.
  2. Click the link in the email. This link will redirect to a page where you will choose your password and a security question. The security question will help verify your identity in case you forget your password.
  3. After setting up the password and security question, you will automatically be logged in.
If you haven't received your login information, contact the Salesforce Administrator of your organization.

Important:

Some Email applications have security features that may review or invalidate links that are received (ie. Microsoft Safelinks). If a User is being sent back to the login page rather than change password screen, when clicking a password reset link, this is a possible cause. Disabling the email link security feature or whitelisting Salesforce, typically resolves this.
