After enabling Salesforce Lightning Experience, users may notice that the New Task button is missing when they click on the Task tab in the Side Navigation Bar. This happens because the New Task button must be explicitly added to the Activity Search Layout by a system administrator. The button is not included in the Lightning Experience interface by default and does not automatically appear after Lightning Experience is enabled.
To restore the New Task button in Salesforce Lightning Experience, a system administrator must add the button to the Activity List View Button Layout. Follow the steps below based on your current Setup interface.
After completing the steps above, the New Task button will be visible when users select the Task tab from the Side Navigation Bar in Salesforce Lightning Experience.
