User cannot access the side panel for 'Salesforce for Outlook' due to continuous refresh

Udgivelsesdato: Jun 16, 2026
Beskrivelse

When using Salesforce for Outlook (SFO), the side panel continuously refreshes and the user is unable to interact with it. The panel appears to load but immediately reloads, making it impossible to log emails, create records, or view related Salesforce records.
This issue is typically caused by an incompatible command-line switch in the Outlook shortcut or a corrupted Outlook profile.

Steps to Resolve Continuous Side Panel Refresh

  1. Close Microsoft Outlook completely.
  2. Right-click the Outlook shortcut on the Desktop or taskbar and click Properties.
  3. In the Target field, look for any command-line switches appended after OUTLOOK.EXE (such as /safe, /noextensions, or /resetnavpane).
  4. Remove any switches that disable add-ins or reset Outlook settings, as these can interfere with the SFO side panel.
  5. Click OK and relaunch Outlook.
  6. If the issue persists, proceed to the next section.

Alternative Outlook Switches to Try

If removing existing switches does not resolve the issue, try launching Outlook with the /resetfolders switch to reset folder views, which can sometimes clear a corrupt state causing the side panel to loop:

  1. Press Windows + R to open Run.
  2. Type outlook.exe /resetfolders and press Enter.
  3. Wait for Outlook to finish loading and check if the SFO side panel stabilizes.

If the Issue Persists

If neither approach resolves the continuous refresh, consider recreating the Outlook profile:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
  2. Add a new Outlook profile.
  3. Set the new profile as the default and relaunch Outlook.
  4. Reconfigure SFO with the new Outlook profile.
