Chatter Group owners and managers can send email notifications to all group members when a group announcement is posted in Salesforce. This feature is available in Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, and Salesforce for iOS and Android, across all Editions. By default, group members receive announcement emails only if they opted in per post. With the 'Send announcement emails' profile permission enabled, group owners and managers can override individual email preferences and notify all group members directly, regardless of their personal notification settings.
To send email notifications for Chatter group announcements, the group owner or manager must have the 'Send announcement emails' profile permission enabled. Once the permission is in place, the option to email all group members becomes available when composing a group announcement.
To send an email notification for a group announcement, select Email all group members next to the announcement expiration date when composing the announcement. This sends the announcement to all group members regardless of their individual email notification settings.
Group owners and managers require the 'Send announcement emails' profile permission to send email notifications for group announcements. An administrator must enable this permission on the user's profile. To provide access to this feature, assign users the Profile Permission called 'Send announcement emails'.
As of Winter '17, group owners and managers can send email notifications to all group members for group announcements, regardless of each member's individual email notification settings. Previously, group members received email notifications for announcements only if they had opted to be notified for each post individually.
