Users may report not having the ability to add Chatter Group Members from within Lightning Experience, despite being able to add members to the same group in Salesforce Classic.
If users do not see the option to add group members, a Salesforce Administrator may need to apply the 'New Group Member' Mobile & Lightning Action to the Group Page Layout's 'Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions' section. This article explains how to configure the Group Page Layout to restore this functionality.
In Salesforce Chatter Lightning Experience, the ability for users to add group members depends on the 'New Group Member' action being present in the Group Page Layout's Mobile & Lightning Experience Actions section. If this action is missing or has not been explicitly added to the layout, the option does not appear for users. Administrators must add it manually by following the steps below.
Note: In Lightning Experience, the 'Everyone' option for groups is not supported.
